SAP (sodium polyacrylate) is the ingredient responsible for modern pads’ remarkable absorbency. It locks liquid away to prevent leaks — without it, pads would need to be far thicker.

What the Research Says

• SAP molecules are too large to penetrate intact skin transdermally
• No significant hormonal disruption effects at typical exposure levels
• Not classified as a carcinogen by WHO, IARC, or the European Chemicals Agency
• Used safely in consumer products for 40+ years
